We live in Alaska

Posted on: July 10th, 2012 by Ron

I was reminded while watching the evening weather forecast that we do live in Alaska.  Last night our temperatures got down to 38F and there was frost about 35 miles west of us.  It was in the 70s during the day but it cleared off last night and the heat just radiated into space.  We have had snow in Alaska every month of the year.  It does make growing peonies a bit more challenging.

North Pole Peonies at the 4th of July Parade

We entered the annual North Pole city 4th of July parade this year.  We have a small buckboard that we tow with the 4-wheeler.  This year we put two granddaughters on it with peonies, put up our sign, put some decorations on it, and our grandson drove his battery powered mini-John Deere tractor.  To our surprise, we won the Mayor’s Choice award.
